SkinPen needles; Vivace needles and heats. The radiofrequency adds a tightening effect that needling on its own does not produce, which matters when skin laxity is part of the problem rather than just texture. For pure acne scarring, SkinPen across a longer course is often the better value.

Redness and swelling for one to three days, a little more than SkinPen because of the heat. Some people get a grid pattern of tiny marks that fades within a few days. Plan a quiet few days rather than an event.

The collagen built is your own, so it lasts as long as that collagen does: typically a year or more before a maintenance session. It does not stop ageing, so a single session a year keeps pace rather than restarting.

Radiofrequency energy is not absorbed by pigment the way laser light is, which makes it considerably safer across deeper skin tones than ablative lasers. We still assess and test, but this is one of the treatments where skin tone is far less of a limiting factor.

If the concern is scarring or texture, SkinPen does the job at a lower cost. If it is laxity (a softening jawline, crepey neck) Vivace is the one that addresses it, because the radiofrequency heat contracts tissue in a way needling alone does not.

Numbing is included and it makes a substantial difference. Most people describe heat and pressure rather than pain. It is more intense than SkinPen, which is the trade for the additional effect.
