Skin Tightening in Neenah, WI
The jawline is usually where people notice first.
Laxity is a collagen and elastin problem, and the honest range of what can be done without surgery is narrower than the marketing suggests. It is also real, and worth knowing precisely — including where the line is.

What is actually happening
Two proteins, both declining, doing different jobs.
Collagen is structure and elastin is recoil. Collagen production falls steadily from the mid-twenties, and elastin is worse — the body makes very little new elastin after adolescence, so what you have is largely what you keep.
That is why skin stops springing back before it starts to hang. The recoil goes first, quietly, and then gravity has years to work on tissue that no longer resists it.
Sun exposure accelerates all of it. Ultraviolet light breaks down existing collagen and damages the elastin network directly, which is why laxity shows earlier on the face, neck and chest than on skin that has spent its life covered.
The neck is its own case. Thinner skin, less fat, constant movement, and it is the area people protect least. It is also the area where non-surgical treatment does the least, and we would rather say that than take the booking.
What we can do about it
Three options, and a clear ceiling.
Energy-based tightening works by injuring the dermis in a controlled way so it rebuilds. It genuinely improves mild to moderate laxity. It does not lift, and no device sold anywhere does.
- 01Vivace RF Microneedling
The strongest non-surgical option we have
Microneedles deliver radiofrequency energy at a controlled depth, so it tightens and resurfaces in the same pass. A course of three, four to six weeks apart, with results building for six months. Expect redness for two days, not two weeks.
- 02Venus Viva
For texture and laxity together, with a gentler recovery
Fractional RF that resurfaces the surface while heating the dermis beneath it. Better tolerated than Vivace and easier to run across the neck. Correspondingly less aggressive — this is the option for maintaining rather than for a step change.
- 03Sculptra
Tightening from underneath, over months
Not a tightening device at all — it rebuilds volume and collagen so there is more structure holding the skin. On a face that has flattened as well as loosened, it often does more for the outline than any device will.
What we would recommend
Where the honest line sits.
If you can pinch the skin along your jaw and it settles back slowly, energy-based treatment is worth doing and Vivace is where we would start. Three sessions, then a review at six months, when the collagen response has actually happened.
If there is a defined jowl that hangs when you look straight ahead, no device is going to remove it. We will tell you that at consultation rather than sell you a course that leaves you disappointed and out of pocket — the right referral is a surgical opinion, and we are happy to say so.
The neck is treatable but expectations should be modest. Venus Viva across the neck improves crepiness and texture reliably; it does not tighten a lax neck into a taut one.

What to expect
Sessions, recovery and realistic timelines.
- Course length
- Three Vivace sessions, four to six weeks apart, is the standard plan. Venus Viva runs four to six sessions on the same spacing because each pass is gentler.
- Recovery
- Vivace leaves the face flushed and slightly swollen for 24 to 48 hours, with a sandpaper texture for about three days. Venus Viva is closer to a strong sunburn for a day.
- When you see it
- Some immediate tightening from tissue contraction, then a genuine dip around week two, then steady improvement from week six to month six as new collagen matures.
- Cost
- Priced by treatment area, with face, neck and décolleté costed separately and as combinations. Full figures, including member pricing, are on the pricing page.
Vivace RF Microneedling is $750, or $650 for members at our Neenah studio. It is the treatment most plans for this concern are built around, and every other figure on this page’s options is published too.
Common questions
What people ask about skin laxity.
At what point is this beyond non-surgical treatment?
When the skin has lost enough elasticity that tightening it produces no visible lift. Energy-based treatment firms skin that still has some spring in it — past that, it maintains rather than changes. We would rather tell you that at a consultation than sell you a course of eight and let you conclude it did not work. Where surgery is the honest answer, we will say so.
Does non-surgical skin tightening actually work?
For mild to moderate laxity, yes — measurably. Radiofrequency energy heats the dermis enough to trigger new collagen, and the improvement in skin quality and firmness is real over three to six months. For advanced laxity with true jowling, no. That distinction is the whole answer, and any clinic that blurs it is selling you the wrong thing.
How is RF microneedling different from regular microneedling?
Standard microneedling creates channels that trigger a healing response in the upper dermis. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy released from the needle tips at a set depth, so it heats the deeper dermis as well. The result is more collagen contraction and more tightening, at the cost of a somewhat stronger recovery.
How many treatments before I see tightening?
Most people notice skin quality changing after the first session and firmness after the second. The tightening people actually book for shows up between the third session and month six, because that is how long collagen remodelling takes. Judging the result at week three is judging it before it has happened.
Will this help my neck?
It will improve the texture, the crepiness and the fine horizontal lines, and it will firm the skin somewhat. It will not remove a band or lift a lax neck. The neck has thin skin and little underlying support, so it responds less to energy than the cheeks do — we treat it, but we set the expectation first.
Is there any downtime?
Vivace: redness and mild swelling for a day or two and a rough texture for around three days, with makeup usually fine from day two. Venus Viva: a warm, sunburned look for about 24 hours. Neither is a treatment to book the day before an event, and both are entirely reasonable to book on a Thursday.

A straight answer about what is possible.
Some laxity responds beautifully to energy. Some needs a surgeon. You should know which one you are before you spend anything.
