Weight & Metabolism Support in Neenah, WI

Medically supervised, out of pocket, and not a shortcut.

Medical weight loss is a clinical programme with a prescriber, a plan and regular review — not a product you buy. It works, and it works considerably better alongside the parts of it that nobody markets: protein, resistance training and follow-up.

What is actually happening

Appetite regulation is a hormone system, not a character trait.

GLP-1 is a hormone your gut releases after eating. It slows stomach emptying, signals fullness to the brain and improves insulin response. In people for whom that signalling is weak or short-lived, hunger returns quickly after eating regardless of what was consumed.

GLP-1 receptor agonists like semaglutide extend that signalling. Food stays in the stomach longer, satiety lasts, and the constant background noise about food that many people describe quietens considerably.

The body also defends its weight actively. Losing weight lowers metabolic rate more than the change in body size accounts for and raises hunger hormones — a coordinated physiological response that has very little to do with willpower.

Which is also why the programme includes more than a prescription. Muscle is lost alongside fat on any rapid weight loss, and protecting it through adequate protein and resistance training is what determines whether the result is sustainable.

What we can do about it

One programme, with a prescriber attached.

This is a medical service rather than an aesthetic one. It runs on assessment, dose titration and regular review, and it is out of pocket only — we do not accept or bill insurance.

  1. 01
    Medical Weight Loss

    The programme itself

Assessment, a prescriber-led plan, dose titration and scheduled review with Kayla Lenzner, who holds obesity medicine certification. Out of pocket only. It is not a service you start and are left alone with.

  2. 02
    Semaglutide

The medication most programmes are built on

Weekly injection, titrated slowly upward to manage side effects. Nausea is common early and usually settles. It is not appropriate for everyone, and the assessment exists to establish that before anything is prescribed.

  3. 03
    Body Contouring

    After, not instead

Once weight has stabilised, contouring addresses the specific areas that did not respond. Doing it during active weight loss wastes the treatment, so we sequence it deliberately.

What we would recommend

How we would run it.

It starts with an assessment rather than a prescription. Medical history, current medications, what has been tried before and what the actual goal is — because for some people the honest answer is that this is not the right programme, and that conversation belongs at the start.

Dose titration is deliberately slow. Escalating quickly produces more nausea and more muscle loss without producing better outcomes, and the people who do best on these medications are generally the ones who moved up gradually.

Protein and resistance training are part of the plan and not an afterthought. Rapid weight loss takes muscle with the fat, and muscle is what keeps metabolic rate up afterwards. This is the part that decides whether the weight stays off.

What to expect

What the programme involves.

Starting
A consultation and medical assessment before anything is prescribed. Some people are not suitable candidates, and establishing that is the point of the appointment.
The rhythm
A weekly injection with scheduled review appointments to check tolerance, progress and dosing. This is a supervised programme rather than a repeat prescription.
Side effects
Nausea, reduced appetite and digestive changes are common in the first weeks and usually settle as the body adjusts. Slower titration reduces them substantially.
Cost
Out of pocket only — we do not accept or bill insurance, and we say so up front rather than at the counter. Pricing is confirmed at consultation and financing is available.

Common questions

What people ask about weight and metabolism.

What happens when I stop the medication?

Appetite generally returns, and weight often follows unless the habits built during the programme have taken hold — which is precisely why this is run as a supervised programme rather than a prescription. Labs, dosing and review every eight weeks exist to build the part that continues afterwards. Anyone offering you a GLP-1 without that structure is selling you the easy half.

How much does medical weight loss cost in Neenah?

Cost is confirmed at consultation because the programme depends on the medication, the dose and the length of the plan. What we can be clear about is that it is out of pocket only — we do not accept or bill insurance — and that financing through Cherry is available so the cost spreads across the programme.

Do you take insurance for weight loss medication?

No. We are an out-of-pocket clinic for weight loss and we do not bill insurance for any part of the programme. That is stated up front deliberately, because it is the question people most often discover the answer to too late elsewhere.

Will I regain the weight if I stop?

Many people regain a significant portion, and it is important to know that before starting. These medications work while they are taken; the underlying appetite regulation returns to baseline afterwards. What makes the difference is the muscle preserved and the habits built during treatment, which is why both are part of the programme rather than optional extras.

What are the side effects of semaglutide?

Nausea is the most common, particularly in the first weeks and after each dose increase, along with reduced appetite, constipation and occasional reflux. Most settle as the body adapts. Slow, patient titration reduces them considerably, which is one of the main arguments for a supervised programme over an unsupervised one.

Who supervises the programme?

Kayla Lenzner, MSN, APNP, FNP-C, who holds obesity medicine certification, leads our medical weight loss programme. Every plan involves assessment, prescriber-led dosing and scheduled review — you are not handed a prescription and left to manage it alone.

An assessment, not a prescription pad.

The first appointment establishes whether this is right for you at all. For some people the honest answer is no, and it is better heard on day one.
